New Features - NetAdvantage for .NET 2011 Volume 2

ASP.NET

• iPad/iPhone browser support – NEW!
  In this release cycle all the ASP.NET controls are now fully touch enabled on iPad/iPhone browsers.  Users of your applications can now perform actions that they would normally perform on a desktop machine with keyboard and mouse using touch on their iPad or iPhone. This will work out of the box with no code changes needed.
• Excel Library – Enhanced!
  The Excel Library has been enhanced across all platforms to include the following features:
  • Shapes Support – support for a few simple shapes including rectangles, right triangles, line shapes & more.
  • Data Validations – contraints can now be placed on the values entered by users in Microsoft Excel.
  • Print Titles – groups of rows and columns can now be set to the be repeated on each printed page when the users pint the worksheet in Microsoft Excel
  • Print Area – rectangular ranges of cells can now be set to be printed on their own pages when the user prints the worksheet in Microsoft Excel
  • Page Breaks – Horizontal and vertical page breaks can now be added to the worksheets

WebDataGrid - Enhanced!

We have added the following features to our hierarchical ASP.NET AJAX data grid:

• WordExporter – With just one line of code, the contents of the WebDataGrid can be exported to Microsoft Word. This feature is similar to the Excel & PDF exporting capabilities that are already available in the product.
• Multi-Column Header – Create column groups in your WebDataGrids to customise the layout of the information that is being displayed.
• Batch Updating – The most awaited feature is now here. Retain user updates within the grid’s temporary storage on the client-side until the user is ready to commit it to the data store. This will make applications that have heavy data entry scenarios with the grid require less chattiness with the server and will let you run all your business, data, and other input validations all in one request against the user data.
• Clipboard Support – Cut, Copy & Paste data rows & data cells from within your grid to Microsoft Excel sheets, or vice versa. The same clipboards operations can be performed between different grids.
• Cell Merging (CTP) – It’s almost here! The cell merging feature finally makes it in the grids as a CTP this release. When a user sorts, cells with like values merge together to form a single cell area, giving a visual grouping across rows.

WebImageButton - Enhanced!

WebImageButton now implements the IButtonControl interface, enabling it to be used as a default button on the page, ability to set the validation group for it, and even the PostBackUrl property. This makes the control functions more in-line with the stock ASP.NET button control, but comes with a lot richer feature set.
 

Windows Forms

• Syntax Parsing Framework – New!
  Our new Syntax Parsing Framework is a fully functional parser engine that can take a programming language and parse it into its language specific tokens, keywords and constructs. This library, in conjunction with a rich text editor, can provide full-blown language editing capabilities with text highlighting.
• WinGrid – Enhanced!
  In NetAdvantage for Windows Form 2011 Volume 2, we are continuing to make the WinGrid more in-tune with Excel behaviors. We’ve also improved performance of the exporters and re-designed conditional formatting dialog.
• Infragistics Excel – Enhanced!
  Import and export Microsoft Excel workbooks in high-fidelity, with the compiled assembly that reads and writes in the widely-interoperable XLS/XLSX/ExcelML file formats. With absolutely no Excel dependency, your Windows Forms application can run completely independent of Excel, and Excel does not have to be installed alongside your application.
• GANTT VIEW – Enhanced!
  With popular demand, the GanttView is now able to support Custom Columns with the grid section of the control. This lets you create columns that can display additional information of the tasks which are not part of the built-in column set.
• Math Library – New!
  If System.Math is not enough for your application computation needs, and you require complex vector or matrix calculations, the Math Library is developed to address those gaps. It also has all the standard .NET math functions built-in and extends the function set with other commonly used mathematical computation methods.
• Office 2010 Black & Silver Themes - New!
  Theme your applications to look and feel like Office 2010 black or silver theme, using the latest ISL (Infragistics Style Library) files

JQuery

jQuery Grid

• Group By – Users can interactively group (and un-group) rows together by a common value or condition by simply dragging and dropping the column header to the group-by area with a completely customisable look and feel.
• Editing– Enter data within the cell, using templates with custom editors that match the column's data type. This allows for adding new rows and deleting rows within the grid.  In addition, validations can be done real time within the grid cell as the user is entering data within the grid.
• Column Hiding – Hide columns from the grid that you don’t want to partake in the visible area of the grid, but still be accessible from the data source.
• Column Resizing – Users can now easily customise column widths to alter their grid views as per their preferences.
• Row Selectors - Use the row selectors to quickly select a row to perform an operation.
• Column Summaries – Display column summaries displaying aggregates of values in the cell. It comes with the standard sum, average, max, min and count aggregate formulas built-in. Grid can also display more than one summary values per column if needed.
• Tooltips – Easily enable tooltips over cells that contain lengthy data.
• Feature Chooser – Users can now choose features they want the grid to support by using this new feature chooser.

Data can be fetched on the fly when the user expands a row that contains child records, similarly the client elements are created only when there a need for it, utilising both bandwidth and client memory optimally.
• Animations - When the user expand or contracts a row, animations are used to enhance the user experience when working with the hierarchical grid control.

Heirarchical DataSource
Fully jQuery based client- side data store for hierarchical data structures, the hierarchical data source is best suited for views that can display a child parent relationship. E.g. a Hierarchal grid or a tree control. It is built on top of the base igDataSource component, so it gets all client data source features and benefits from it. It also extends the oData $expand operation to grab related child records.

ComboBox
Using this fully featured combo box control with intuitive auto-suggest, auto-complete & auto-filtering built-in, your users will be able to find the choices they are looking for much more quickly. Single/Multi select capabilities are also available with the combo box.

Tree Control
Simplify the display of hierarchical data into a Web-based tree depicting familiar parent-child relationships between nodes of information. Sporting a responsive user experience and high performance design, your users will love its rich functionality like checkbox selection, node templates and more.

Excel Library

• Shapes Support – Support for a few simple shape types including rectangles, right triangles, line shapes, and more. These can be created in code and saved to a workbook. In addition, shapes can now be flipped horizontally and vertically and you can change their outline and fill colors.
• Data Validations – Constraints can now be placed on the values entered by users in Microsoft Excel. All data validations, including drop down lists and custom formula validations, are supported.
• Print Titles – Groups of rows and columns can now be set to be repeated on each printed page when the users prints the worksheet in Microsoft Excel.
• Print Area – Rectangular ranges of cells can now be set to be printed on their own pages when the user prints the worksheet in Microsoft Excel.
• Page Breaks – Horizontal and vertical page break can now be added to the worksheets. This will allow you to force content to move to the next page when the user prints the worksheet in Microsoft Excel.

Persistence Framework – New!
With the Persistence Framework, you can persist control settings from any Silverlight dependency object (including non-Infragistics controls) using Infragistics’ Control Persistence Framework to manage saving and loading of those settings you want persisted to any external source, like a file or database. This framework makes it very easy for you to give your users the ability to save off their preferences and the layout of your application’s user interface down to the most detailed settings  - such as which grid columns are fixes - and then re-load the same layout when they come back again.

Rating – New!
The xamRating control allows your users to add customised rating capability to their applications. The control allows you to display rating images to the end users and record their input when they tap on an image.

ACS Control – New!
This is an exciting new control which allows developers to use various social media authentication capability to authenticate their own applications. The main scenario for the control is to provide an application a way to let users log-in with their existing Facebook, Twitter, Gmail or Live ID credentials.
