For over twenty years, David
Smith has been developing
commercial software
applications and training
others in software
development tools and
techniques. Over this time
he has worked as both a

free-lance contractor for

Europe and Africa. His
client list includes major
companies such as Digital

Compaq Computers, and

and Learning Tree
International. Much of this
work involved creating
distributed desktop
applications in languages

C++, Visual Basic, and Java,

years, Mr. Smith has focused
on the development of web
applications, and has used
every major web programming
environment (JSP/Java
Servlets, Active Server
Pages, and PHP). He has been
a contributing writer for
the Ziff-Davis publication
"Exploring Windows NT" and
is the author of an upcoming
book on the PHP
